‘Civilization 6’ News: Developers Introducing Tomyris Of Scythia
People who will play "Civilization 6" will only get entertained, but also learn a little about history as well. Just like when developers introduce Tomyris and the Scythians into the mix, for example.
In a news article it posted in the "Civilization 6" website, Tomyris was a warrior who was named undisputed leader following the death of her husband chieftain.
One of her most notable victories was against Cyrus the Great. When her son was kidnapped by the the feared Persian conqueror, she went up to challenge him. He also underestimated the skill of Tomyris because the Scythian warrior defeated and killed Cyrus the Great.
While people who read the description may think it's a fictional background story for Tomyris, she was actually a real figure back in 530 BC and was mentioned by historians like Herodotus and Jordanes. The Scythians, too, are a real nomad civilization who was of Iranian and Eurasian stock.
They were also credited for innovating the use of horses in warfare. Their skills in war is so advanced that they managed to conquer parts of China and Siberia.
PC Gamer's Tom Marks said that the Tomyris and the Scynthians in "Civilization 6" would be bad news for players considering that they are indeed a formidable foe. The use of cavalry in their attacks would cause significant damage to enemies.
Due to the horses, the Scynthians can move very fast. That poses a problem in the new environment where building is more integral to the terrain. That means the players will really think long and hard where they will build their empire.
