'Cities: Skylines' First Person Mod Download, Review: New City-Building Sim Sells 250,000 Copies in 24 Hours
On March 10, Colossal Order and Paradox Interactive released the latest city-building simulation game, 'Cities: Skylines', and already it's clear that it has been a success. According to sources, 'Cities: Skylines' was purchased over 250,000 times in the first 24 hours of its release.
While this feat might pale in comparison to other videogame sales records that have happened in the past, it's a really big deal for Paradox Interactive. According to IGN, "The number [of sales] includes pre-orders and breaks the record for every other title in Paradox's stables over the same period of time. Considering the development team began life with just nine people on board, it's a remarkable achievement."
Beyond record sales, 'Cities: Skylines' seems to be gathering some rave reviews from gamers who have played it. As of this writing, the game, which can be purchased through Steam is listed as "Overwhelmingly Positive" in regards to user reviews. Boiling it down even further, out of 3,222 user reviews, 96% of them are positive.
One of the top user comments reads, "When starting off Cities Skylines I thought that the game would be another typical city builder with a mere simcity interface slap on it. The game proven that it has done many thing right the first time its come out and exceeded what sim city was however there is more work needed for the game especially in terms of the end game content. Overall the game itself is an exceptional city builder that everyone has to play if you enjoy this genre."
Evidently many people feel this game has more to offer than some of the other city-building sims out there.
On that note, it's no surprise that people have started to mod the game and allow it to branch out in different directions. One popular mod allows the player to step into first person camera mode, and get street level within their own cities.
