Chromebox CXI Specs Rumors, News: Acer Announces New System at $350 for 4GB
Chrome OS devices have been used for the average day-to-day computer owner. However, Acer's new Chromebox is bound to pack a punch with computer users who need a little more juice with its new CXI arrival.
The CXI Chromebox will have a new 4th generation Intel Core i3 4030 dual-core CPU. There are two models for the new device. The first allows 4GB of RAM and the other with 8GB of RAM. Both models come with a 16 GB SSD for internal memory with upgrades available with a micro SD card slot that can hold up to an additional 32 GB of local storage.
According to Tech Spot, the CXI Chromebox will also have HDMI and DisplayPort out, 802,11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, Gigabit Ethernet and four USB 3.0 ports. They will support computers with display resolutions between 2K and 4K.
The new devices are also said to have faster performances. It will also have tighter security with built-in Google virus protection and Trusted Platform Module. The CXI Chromebox can either be mounted on the back of a desktop computer with a VESA mountable or be featured as a stand-alone device.
In a press release from Acer America, senior business manager Leila Axelle-Robert said, "A win/win for users and IT staff, the Chromebox CXI devices are easy to use and deploy, highly secure and save significant desk space. Featuring multiple accounts and Google Drive access, they're ideal for any environment where multiple users will be sharing one device, such as classrooms, libraries, hotel business centers and reception areas."
Pricing for the 4GB CXI Chromebox starts at $350 in the United States, however, the device with 8GB of memory is priced at $400.
