Christopher Reeve News: Actor's Daughter Names Son After Late Father

Although Father's Day has come and passed, late actor Christopher Reeve's daughter Alexandra Reeve Givens has honored her father in the ultimate way possible, by naming her son who she just gave birth to after the former Superman star.

"Alexandra Reeve Givens and Garren Givens welcomed their first child Christopher Russel Reeve Givens on June 13 in Washington D.C.," a representative of the married couple told E! News recently announcing the birth of baby Christopher.

Several are already gushing about the news as Alexandra relived the memories of her father through her new born son born just last July 13 naming him Christopher Russell Reeve Givens. Alexandra is married to Garren Givens and the two apparently decided to honor their fathers by naming their first son in their honor.

Garren's father is named Russel and the two apparently wanted to use both names for their son. Who knows maybe baby Christopher would soon wear a cape around his neck and dress around like his late grandfather.

A spokesperson close to the family even confirmed the meaning of their son's name in a statement from People magazine. "He was named after his grandfathers on each side, two very important role models for Garren and Alexandra. The entire family is thriving during their first few weeks home," the spokesperson said.

Surely the married couple, who were married in 2008 are definitely having the time of their lives with their new bundle of joy and their now family of three. Alexandra is 31 years old, and Garren is 33. The two reportedly met at Yale.

The new mom of baby Christopher works as a Senior Counsel in the United States Senate while baby Christopher's dad works in the Obama administration as the Director of the Presidential Innovation Fellows program.

Indeed it is a beautiful time for the family and as the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation said, Congratulations to the happy new parents! "Congrats to Alexandra Reeve Givens on the birth of her son Christopher Russel! He is already rocking #TeamReeve gear," the foundation posted on twitter recently.
