Christon Gray Proves Worth In Sophomore Project, ‘The Glory Album’
Christian hip-hop artist Christon Gray proved that he's no fluke as his solo project, "The Glory Album," climbed up the charts and sneaked into the critics' hearts after its release last week.
"The Glory Album," released under Fo Yo Soul Recordings/RCA, debuted at no. 5 at the Billboard's R&B Albums chart. His first album, "School of Roses" released in 2014, also peaked at the top 5 on Billboard's R&B Albums chart.
Fo Yo Soul boss Kirk Franklin said in a statement, "We can't tell you how excited we are that people are connecting to this incredible artist we have in Christon Gray. 'The Glory Album' is music for the mind body and soul."
The label claimed that Gray's latest album is a "mix of hip-hop, R&B and contemporary Christian music that defies tradition, without losing its intentions."
Gospel Pundit noted that Christon Gray couldn't help make some social commentaries, which is enigmatic of hip-hop culture, in "The Glory Album."
Nevertheless, Gray continues to impress.
"The 13-track album, co-written in its entirety by Gray, is a cohesive masterpiece, moving seamlessly from authentic, transparent vocals to playful and clever lyricism, all set to well-produced instrumentals," the website said.
