Christian Rapper Bizzle 'Well Wishes' Album to Give 100% of Funds to Build Water Wells in Africa, 'We Can Clean Out iPods, and Clean Out Water' (VIDEO)
Christian rapper Bizzle released a video about why he is donating 100% of his upcoming album proceeds to build wells in Africa.
Bizzle's upcoming album is entitled Well Wishes and drops July 22. He announced last month that 100% of the profits from 'Well Wishes' sales will go towards building water wells in Mozambique, Africa. Bizzle announced in a new promotional video that Well Wishes will feature many different collaborations including some of Christian hip-hop's best. The first single is called "Do this" and features Social Club and GS.
In the Houston rapper's promotional video he explained why he felt compelled to build wells with his album's revenue. He said he only started thinking about the bad water conditions in Africa when he was getting ready to visit the country. "The Lord dealt with me about the fact that it's only now that its about to affect me that I'm worrying about what they have to drink out there," Bizzle said.
"The first area we're starting in is Mozambique" he continued, and said he and his team at God Over Money intend to branch out.
He went on to tell a heartbreaking story, "There's a village out there where they don't even name their children until they turn one years old just because of the fact that they might die within that first year," he said, "they don't want to get attached to their children and then they die."
He reflectively continued, "To think about how good we have it out here, how easy it is to get a cup of water, a glass of water. Our homeless can go in McDonalds and get water."
"I feel like we should really be able to do something about it, God blesses us we should be able to bless others," the God Over Money president maintained. "I encourage artist people who do music to look at this lay out because I think we all could help in a lot of different areas."
"We do music for free all the time," he added.
Bizzle's response rap to the marriage ceremony of dozens of homosexual couples during the 56th annual Grammy Awards, made headlines when the Christian rapper penned an alternative song using a Biblical response track to Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' "Same Love."
He said he wants to continue to release music that's clean, "Not only are we on one hand trying to create clean water for people to drink, but we're also trying to create clean music for your children," he said, "We can clean out iPods, and clean out water."
In the video he quoted the scripture seen in Matthew 25:35 - 36 which says, "For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me."
"I wanted to just really bring these things to the surface so that we can start really caring and seeing what we can do about it," he reiterated, "People complain all the time, we complain about hunger especially unbelievers, they say 'if God is real why are people starving.'"
He had this rebuttal, "Because he told you to feed em, that's why."
Bizzle ended his plea by saying, "We're never gonna run out of needs, this is just a beginning and hopefully every year we can drop a project, we can pick a new need."
