Chris Tomlin's 'Love Ran Red' Gives Listeners Both Fast & Slow Tempo Worship Songs That Reach the Heart [ALBUM REVIEW]
Chris Tomlin did it again and provided his fans with pure worship birthed from the heart of scripture. Love Ran Red will release October 27 and BREATHEcast wanted to provide a review on what to expect.
Tomlin is known for the mega worship anthems "How Great Is Our God" and "Our God." His new album Love Ran Red does not fall short of songs, that like his older hits, will serve as essential worship songs for churches throughout the world.
Love Ran Red kicks off with some BREATHEcast favorites such as "Greater" and "Waterfall." The psalmist's melodies, combined with live recorded instrumentation, truly provides a full sound for the listener.
"At the Cross" stands out as a possible future single. The echoing words, "at the Cross," sound like something that would be sung at popular The Brooklyn Tabernacle church in New York City by their mega choir on a Sunday morning.
Tomlin slows the record down with the tune "Jesus Loves Me," it seems to be a contemporary rewrite of the old hymn of the same name. Other stand outs and slower worshipful songs are "Almighty," "Table," and "I will boast."
The Texas native made sure to provide up-tempo dance tracks as well to mix it up, such as "Psalm 100." A BREATHEcast favorite is "Boundary Lines" which will definitely have people on their feet after it picks up, but it is the passion in Tomlin's delivery that cuts straight to the heart.
The successful worship leader was named the BMI Songwriter of the Year and the K-LOVE Fan Award Male Vocalist of the Year in 2013. His prior album Burning Lights became only the fourth Christian album to reach No. 1. He has sold over 13 million albums and his songs are sung by over 40 million people in church according to a press release.
Tomlin has nine albums, 12 No. 1 radio singles, a GRAMMY Award, five Billboard Music Awards, 21 Dove Awards, a platinum and four gold albums in his career. Love Ran Red will surely keep the singer garnering acclaim.
