Chris Tomlin Releases New Single ‘Resurrection Power,’ Shares Story Behind Song
Last week, Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Chris Tomlin released the first single, "Resurrection Power" from an upcoming 2018 album. In a lengthy Facebook note on Monday, Tomlin also shared the story behind the new song.
"I can't think of a better song at the start of the year than a song about new life declaring 'The old is gone, the new is here!'" Tomlin said. "I believe this song is going to give so much hope to people as it presents the victory Christ offers us."
Amazon Music, who sponsored Tomlin's 2017 "Good Good Father Tour," exclusively debuted the "Resurrection Power" music video on Jan. 12. Richard Adam Jones, who also shot Tomlin's "Home" video, directed the clip filmed in Nashville last month. You can watch the music video below:
Sharing the story behind the "Resurrection Power," Tomlin says, "I believe it's going to give so much hope to people as it presents the reality Christ offers us through His finished work on the cross - to walk in newness of life."
"Personally, this song has given me so much hope," Tomlin explains. "Because I don't know about you, but I don't wake up every morning thinking to myself, 'I've got resurrection power living on the inside of me!'"
Tomlin goes on to quote Apostle Paul, "But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you." - Romans 8:11 (KJV)
"It's my prayer that the truth of that scripture would come alive in your heart, and that the new song, 'Resurrection Power,' will be a blessing and encouragement in your life."
