Chris Pratt New Movie News: 'Jurassic World' Star to play Lead Role in ‘The Real McCoy’
Chris Pratt has been tapped to play bootlegger Bill McCoy after Universal Studios recently won a bidding war against Warner Bros Entertainment for the movie "The Real McCoy." The story was pitched by scriptwriter Bill "The Judge" Dubuque who was in favor of Universal's $3 million bid.
The idea came up from producer Tim McNoulty, who will be producing the movie alongside Michael De Luca and Mark Williams will over-see the team. So far, no directors have been pitched. Yet the idea has been pitched to actor Chris Pratt.
The alleged action-adventure movie is based on the real American sea captain and rum runner William "Bill" McCoy during the prohibition era. McCoy was purportedly smuggling alcohol from South America up to deals in Long Island. Because of smuggling, McCoy was eventually called an enemy of the US government. However, scriptwriter Bill Dubuque may have a different angle to this rum-running scheme of the real Bill McCoy. However, the term "the real McCoy" was not really coined during Bill's era, but at a much later time.
Viewers could expect for Chris Pratt to do just right for venturing into a bootlegger role. He had previously worked on similarly themed movies especially Guardians of Galaxy where he plays as the quirky "Star Lord." Chris Pratt seemed to get into that theme easily. He is currently shooting for Cowboy Ninja Vikings, and making waves with his acting in Jurassic World.
