Chris Brown News: Singer Alex Gaskarth Tweets About Rapper's Attendance at the Grammys
During Sunday night's Grammy Awards, singer Chris Brown was at the butt of a lot of controversy during the show's 'It's On Us' domestic violence campaign.
Many found it bias or unjust that the singer was in attendance despite his domestic violence charges against his ex-girlfriend Rihanna, which took place after a pre-Grammys party of all places.
"All Time Low" singer Alex Gaskarth found this to be especially offensive and took to Twitter to voice his disgust:
"Wow. Unbelievable. Maybe #ItsOnUs to not invite people like @chrisbrown to the f***ing Grammys. Am I wrong?,"
"...I'm all for atonement and forgiveness, but it seems a little crass to me..."
Brown caught word of the tweet and immediately responded in a manner many found unfamiliar:
"you sound really perfect brother... How can I get those VIP tickets to the pearly gates bro... Seems like you have it down."
Despite the platonic tone, Brown soon deleted the tweet.
Gaskarth soon struck back with:
"I'm not worried about the pearly gates RN, man. Worried about here and now... And double standards. And the messages we send."
The Twitter feud ended with Gaskarth closing with:
"Shouldn't target individuals. Uncalled for, maybe? Or maybe it had to be said. Either way, sleep! 'Be excellent to eachother,' -- Bill & Ted".
It would seem no matter how hard the R&B singer fights, he can't shake the dark deed of his past. He's in fact still doing community service to clear his probation.
In a recent radio interview with Hot 97's Ebro, Brown expressed his challenge with moving on:
"So at the end of the day, I knew that was a mistake I would never make again, but I take into consideration like, dang, I was like 17-18-I'm 25 now-so I look back at it now like, dang, and I'm still doing community service and seeing the judge every month and a half over that situation.
"It's something that, in your personal life, you definitely wanna keep those skeletons in your closet but because I'm an artist like me, you gotta be public about it. Everybody has their own demons and their own skeletons, but it's only how they handle it after when it's showcased. Some people have great political speeches, I can't do that. I can talk about it like this. I can give you a great song."
