Chris Brown News: Rapper Denies Philippine Fraud Allegations

R&B singer Chris Brown took to Twitter to let his take be known on the fraud allegations against him that has him being held up in the Philippines. Brown was barred from leaving Manila on July 21 due to a lookout order from the Philippines' Department of Justice.

As reported by Rappler, Brown, and promoter John Michael Pio Roda are being accused of alleged fraudulent acts by Maligaya Development Corporation (MDC), the company that manages the area where the Philippine Arena is located.

Brown was scheduled to perform last Dec. 31, but canceled the show. The complaint affidavit says that Brown and company were paid, and apart from not performing, failed to return the money.

"I have nothing to do with anything going on right now. I came back to Manila to do a make up show for New Years. I did the show 3 days ago," Brown tweeted.

"This is a very serious situation and someone needs to be held accountable for mixing my name up in all this. I've done nothing wrong!!!,"he wrote in another tweet.

As noted by the report, the 26-year-old has been in the Philippines since July 21, and was supposed to leave on July 22 for Hong Kong. Apart from the tweets, he has also posted videos of him in his hotel room, pleading innocence and asking to be allowed to leave the country.

The Philippines' justice department has asked the singer to produce a document certifying he has no legal obligations in the country, but the immigration bureau has said Brown has not applied for such a document. A state prosecutor has been appointed to prepare filing fraud charges against the music star.

As pointed out by Rappler, Brown is scheduled to perform in Israel and Cyprus next week before returning the US for more concert dates.
