Scott Elrod of "Grey's Anatomy" is joining the cast of "Chicago Fire" season 5 as Travis Brenner.

Travis Brenner is described as a social media celebrity who becomes friends with Severide, played by Taylor Kinney.

"This guy always has a party going on, always has a new adventure to rope in a new friend," said "Chicago Fire" executive producer Derek Haas to Entertainment Weekly.

According to the executive producer, Travis Brenner is going to cause some trouble over the course of the first three episodes of the upcoming series.

In the series, Travis Brenner and Severide will meet during a fire call and will become instant friends as Severide is tempted to join the former's inner circle.

"Brenner feels like Severide is a real guy, not the usual hanger-on, entourage type of guy that he's used to hanging out with, so he's attracted to Severide in that way," said Haas.

Elrod previously played the role of William Thrope, an army doctor and Meredith Grey's love interest, in "Grey's Anatomy." He is also known for his roles in "The Young and the Restless," "NCIS: Los Angeles" and "How to Get Away with Murder."

Meanwhile, teaser photos for the upcoming season reveal a possible hookup between Stella and Severide. The pairing is gaining mixed reactions, especially among fans of the Severide-Bianca love team.

Furthermore, Dora Madison will not reprise her role as Chili in season 5. She was promoted to a series regular in season 4 but was axed in the middle of the season.

"Chicago Fire" season 5 is set to premiere on October 11 on NBC.
