Chicago Bulls News, NBA 2015 Rumors: Bulls’ Derrick Rose Out for the Season Due to Knee Injury

In a press release on Tuesday night, the Chicago Bulls announced that their starting point guard, Derrick Rose, is out for the rest of the season due to a medial meniscus tear in his right knee.

The 26-year-old told the team doctors that his knee was hurting during Monday's game against the Milwaukee Bucks, and an MRI confirmed his suspicions.

This isn't the first time Rose has suffered from injuries during his NBA career. In the 2013-2014 season, Rose had to undergo surgery for the same injury he is currently suffering in the same knee. He also tore his left ACL in the 2012-2013 season. With a result of these surgeries, the 2011 MVP played clear up until the first round of the playoff series two seasons ago and missed all but 10 games last year.

NBA players of other teams have rallied together through social media to show their support for Rose. NBA stars such as LeBron James, Paul George and Mo Williams wished Rose a speedy recovery and hoped for their fellow NBA player to return to the court quickly.

How long it will take Rose to recover from the surgery is still uncertain. However, it is likely that the win against the Bucks was Rose's last game of the season. According the sources, Rose has had an exceptional season, but he has not risen to his star status in previous years. According to USA Today, Rose averaged 18.4 points and 5.0 assists a game.

The Bulls will start either Aaron Brooks or Kirk Hinrich to play point guard for the rest of the season. They host their next game against the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday night.
