Chicago Bulls NBA 2015 News, Rumors: No Timetable for Derrick Rose's Return, Trade Possible?
As he has been plagued with knee injuries for the past few seasons now, Derrick Rose once again refused to give a clear timetable for his return. He spoke to the media Wednesday after going through full-contact practice in consecutive days to give an update on his return.
"Who knows?" Rose replied when asked if he thinks he could play in a few regular season games before the playoffs start, as reported by the Chicago Sun Times.
Rose had another surgery on his troublesome knee on Feb 27, and had an original timetable for a return pegged at four to six weeks. As the Sun Times reports, Friday marked week five.
"Just building strength, trying to take care of my body, hydrate. But the strength has to be there. It's there, but I just need a little bit more time. I'm doing as much as I can every day," Rose told reporters.
Chicago Bulls coach Tim Thibodeau didn't have much to offer about the former MVP's return himself. "No, it's a process he has to go through. He's got to get through some practices first, and then when he's good with that, we'll go to the next step after that."
Recently, Joe Cowley of the Sun Times spoke with Stephen Nelson of Bleacher Report suggesting that the Bulls would "love to trade Rose," but may not have any willing trade partners anywhere in the league.
Rose has two more years on his contract, with both years seeing him get paid upwards of $20 million per. Cowley predicts that negotiations for a new contract will get ugly, opining that Rose's days of being a max contract player are way behind him with all the health concerns.
He also said that while the Bulls may look to move Rose before he becomes a free agent, he can't see any way that the Bulls can move that contract.
