Chicago Bulls News: Derrick Rose Denies Sexual Misconduct Allegations

Derrick Rose, Chicago Bulls guard, has stated that a lawsuit recently filed against him in Los Angeles Superior Court is based on false allegations. The allegations are of sexual misconduct and date rape.

"I am just focusing on staying healthy and getting ready for the season," Rose stated in his statement. "I am not going to comment other than to say: I know the truth, I am confident I will be proven innocent."

TMZ Sports broke the news about the lawsuit, which was filed on Wednesday. In it, an unidentified woman identified as "Jane Doe" claims she dated Rose for two years, but in August 2013, on a trip to Chicago with Rose, he and his friends slipped a drug into her drink and committed sexual acts against her will.

She claims that when the alleged assault occurred, she was in an "incapacitated state of consciousness".

"The incident occurred in the early morning of Aug. 27, 2013. The plaintiff had visited the defendant's residence in the early morning of Aug. 27, 2013," stated attorney Brandon J. Anand.

Rose's spokesperson Lisa Cohen stated to media outlets that there had been a lengthy relationship between Rose and the woman and that it was a consensual, non-exclusive relationship.

She states that the accusations are "completely false and without any factual basis," noting that the woman was demanding compensation only 2 years down the line.

"This is nothing more than a desperate attempt to shake down a highly respected and successful athlete," Cohen stated.

She further added, "We have complete confidence that the case will be dismissed,"

A statement issued by the Bulls stated: "We just learned about this matter and do not know all the facts. It would be inappropriate to comment further at this time."
