Chicago Bulls NBA 2015 News: Pau Gasol to Return in Game 6
After taking a 2-1 series lead, the Chicago Bulls now find themselves on the brink of elimination going into Game 6. A lot of it has to do with All-Star Pau Gasol being out with a strained left hamstring that kept him out of both Games 4 and 5.
But with the Bulls season hanging in the balance, the Spaniard said he plans to play Thursday at the United Center. "I'll be out there," Gasol was quoted by the Associated Press' Andrew Seligman.
He wasn't able to give an answer when asked what percentage he'll be playing at, but said that whatever he has when he steps onto the court, he'll give.
"It's frustrating. It's not easy. It's painful. It's hard. But things like this happen, sometimes at the worst times," Gasol said.
As noted by Seligman, when the Bulls had a film session Wednesday, Gasol did some running, and took some jumpers as well as some free throws. According to the report, the Bulls' best offensive post option has not attempted to jump.
Gasol was huge in the Bulls series opener win against the Cleveland Cavaliers, scoring 21 points on 10-16 shooting to go along with 10 boards. He hit open jumper after open jumper off pick and fades that discombobulated the Cavs' defense. And while he struggled in the next couple of games after that, the Bulls' chances with still be much better with him on the floor bringing his length and basketball I.Q.
In nine postseason games this year, Gasol is averaging 15.1 points, 9.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 2.3 blocks per game (best among players still competing in these playoffs).
Game 6 between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Chicago Bulls is scheduled for Thursday at the United Center.
