Chicago Blackhawks NHL 2015 News: Blackhawks’ Star Kane Meets with Investigators

Chicago Blackhawks superstar Patrick Kane and his attorney, Paul Cambria, recently met with investigators from the Hamburg Police Department and Erie County District Attorney's office regarding the supposed rape of a woman in the NHL star's home, the Buffalo News reports.

As noted by CBSSports.com, while he has not been charged with a crime, the 26-year-old Kane is the subject of an investigation stemming from an Aug. 2 incident. District Attorney Frank Sedita has not confirmed that Kane is, indeed, the subject of an investigation, while the Hamburg Police has only stated that the department is investigating an incident that allegedly occurred at Kane's home.

Citing sources, the Buffalo News said the Hamburg department, after searching the three-time Stanley Cup winner's house on Old Lake Shore Road the day the accusation was made, requested assistance from the DA's Office investigators due to the high-profile nature of the case as well as the sensitivity of the allegations.

A woman accused Kane of raping her in his Hamburg house in the early hours of Aug. 2, according to previous reports by the Buffalo News. As noted by the report, the accuser met Kane at SkyBar in downtown Buffalo, and eventually rode with Kane to the hockey star's house. The woman then alleged that Kane overpowered her in his house, raped her and left her with a scratched leg along with bite marks on her shoulders.

As pointed out by CBSSPorts.com, Kane has not publicly commented on the incident.

Following the incident, EA Sports removed Kane's likeness from the cover of the coming NHL 16 video game, with the company releasing a statement that he will not be used in any of the game's marketing activities.

The CBSSports.com report opines that should the investigation stretch into training camp, which starts Sept. 17, the NHL could potentially suspend Kane indefinitely.
