Chicago Blackhawks News: NHL Teams Calling About Patrick Kane Trade
The investigation surrounding Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane is going into its fourth week, with the three-time Stanley Cup winner still not being charged with anything. Still, the fallout of this development has led to EA Sports taking Kane's likeness removed from the cover of "NHL 16," while his junior hockey team, the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League, has removed his name from one of their four camp teams named after alumni, as CBSSports.com notes.
And now, Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times reports that at least five teams have reached out to Chicago to inquire about the availability of Kane, and offering themselves as willing trade partners should the Hawks decide to cut ties with their talented winger.
Lazerus writes that while Kane has exceeded everything you can expect from a star hockey player on the ice - bringing three Stanley Cups to Chicago, revitalizing the sport in the city, being good to fans, his teammates, while also being one of the hardest wrkers on the team - a source said he may have "disrespected" the team and his teammates by allowing himself to be put in a potentially bad situation.
In 2009, Kane was involved in an alleged assault of a cab driver while the athlete was on a Conco de Mayo trip in Madison, Wis.
He is scheduled to enter the first of his eight-year, $84 million contract.
The incident currently haunting Kane occurred on Aug. 2 when a woman accused him of raping her in his Hamburg home. As noted by CBSSports.com, everyone, including local police, the district attorney, Kane's camp, the Blackhawks and the NHL has been tight-lipped about the situation. A recent report surfaced that Kane and his lawyer met with investigators.
The CBSSports.com report opines that if Kane is charged with a crime, or if the investigation stretches further, he could face indefinite suspension from the league.
