Chicago Bears NFL 2015 News: Ray McDonald Arrested on Domestic Violence Charges
Ray McDonald, Chicago Bears defensive end was arrested early on Monday morning in Santa Clara, California. The arrest was made on suspicion of domestic violence and child endangerment, as confirmed by police.
The football player, who was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers, was also arrested on domestic violence charges in late August 2014, and police also revealed later on that they paid a visit to his home on May 25th, 2014, exactly one year before this arrest, his most recent.
The 49ers released him in December 2014, and were signed to the Bears in March 2015.
The owner of the Chicago Bears, George McCaskey has chosen to release Ray McDonald on Monday.
This occurred shortly after McDonald was arrested for a second time for alleged domestic violence. According to reports from Pro Football Talk, McCaskey told McDonald when he signed him that he would have to be on his best behavior.
"We believe in second chances, but when we signed Ray we were very clear what our expectations were if he was to remain a Bear," said general manager Ryan Pace, in a statement. "He was not able to meet the standard and the decision was made to release him."
A report from NBC Bay Area on Monday, stated that the charges against McDonald for domestic violence and child endangerment are based on the fact the McDonald was "physically assaulting the victim while she was holding a baby," based on a new release from police.
The victim in question is believed to be McDonald's ex-fiancee. This is the third time within a year that McDonald has been in trouble with the law.
