Chelsea head coach Jose Mourinho recently talked about the status of his striker Diego Costa's in the upcoming game versus Sporting Lisbon this Wednesday.
"He has to improve his condition. He was injured and had many doubts because he went a long time without training," said Mourinho to reporters.
"Obviously that must have an effect on a player in the way he runs, the way he moves and in his co-ordination. I don't think there is any problem but he has to recover."
Chelsea goalie Thibaut Courtois discussed his frustrations regarding his club's tying 23-game unbeaten streak being snapped against Newcastle in the Premier League by a final score of 2-1 on December 6.
"Obviously we are disappointed but we have to takes the positives, we are still top of the league and we've had a great start to the season. Okay, this was our first defeat but we have to keep working hard and things will go better for us again," said Courtois to reporters.
"We are confident that if we work hard in training and learn from our mistakes we will win again."
In other Chelsea news, rookie Ruben Loftus-Cheek revealed how excited he is to be making his league debut against Sporting Lisbon on Wednesday afternoon.
"It's amazing for me. I have been with the team since eight so it's great for me. We are very aware of that (John Terry being last academy product to be regular in first team). It's a good squad, but we have some good talent coming through," said Loftus-Cheek to reporters.
"It's not easy to come through with squad ahead of us, but you can't be negative otherwise you won't get anywhere near."
Meanwhile, Sporting Lisbon hopes to upset Chelsea when the Portuguese side invades the Stamford Bridge in their upcoming matchup.
