Chelsea Clinton News: Hillary Clinton's Daughter Reacts to Kanye West’s Announcement for President in 2020
The recent news regarding "All day" rapper Kanye West announcing that he will be running for President in 2020 shocked everyone and had many already thinking if they would vote for him or not but not according to the daughter of Hillary Clinton, Chelsea Clinton who apparently thinks that it is too early to make a final decision.
Not only is the year 2020 a long time from today but there is still a 2016 elections coming and that would be the focus of some personalities including Chelsea who was then supporting the Clinton Foundation's No Ceilings Project. When asked by MTV News regarding the rumored presidential hopeful, Chelsea said, "I definitely think who runs for office is really important." She then added "Even if him just saying that helps sparks a little boy or a little girl who was watching the VMAs to think, 'Oh, wow! Maybe I should do that,' that's awesome."
And when asked if she would in fact vote for the artist when the time comes, Chelsea was still waiting for other names to come up first. "I think it depends on who he'd be running against," she said.
West's announcement at the MTV Video Music Awards recently was delivered when he was accepting the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award saying, "It's about ideas bro, new ideas. People with ideas, people who believe in truth," West shared with the audience. "And yes, as you could have guessed by this moment, I have decided, in 2020, to run for President."
West even decided to take the opportunity to apologize for his previous behaviour during award shows. "If I had to do it all over again, what would I have done? Would I have worn a leather shirt? Would I have drank half a bottle of Hennessy and gave the rest of it to the audience...? If I had a daughter at that time would I have gone on stage and grabbed the mic from someone else's?" he asked.
He continued with "The contradiction is, I do fight for artists, but in that fight I somehow was disrespectful to artists. I didn't know how to say the right thing, the perfect thing," adding, "Sometimes I feel like I died for the artists' opinion, for the artist to be able to have an opinion after they were successful."
