In 'Castle' Season 7, fans saw Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) looking for her would be husband Rick Castle (Nathan Fillion) following his disappearance after an attempted car bombing on their wedding day. The synopsis for the premiere episode of Season 8, titled 'XY,' states that things will change this season.

According to IB Times, the synopsis for 'XY' reveals that this time things will be other way around, as it will be Castle who will be searching for Beckett. However, fans are still in the dark as to why the detective, who is expected to be promoted soon, is missing since unlike after Season 6, the Season 7 finale did not follow an action-packed cliff-hanger.

Nevertheless, it appears that things go wrong soon after a mysterious stranger calls Castle, triggering a chain of potentially deadly events. The first two episodes of 'Castle' Season 8 will alternate telling the story from Castle's and Beckett's perspectives, with Castle's point of view coming up first in the premiere. All these may seem to be somewhat vague, but still three weeks remain before the show returns this fall. Hence, loyal viewers will have to be more patient.

Meanwhile, all through the previous seven seasons of the crime drama television series, Beckett has been very patient, nabbing criminals and solving cases routinely with her new husband's help. Now, it seems that the hard work will be paying off. In the Season 7 finale, Beckett was told she had been vetted to run for New York State Senate and viewers wondered if the detective would give up solving cases to become a politician. Last month, fans came to know that Beckett will eventually decline the offer. Instead, she will be getting a nice promotion. In Season 8, fan can see Esposito and Ryan referring to their colleague as Captain Beckett. However, all these will mean nothing, if her husband cannot find her!

Meanwhile, the author-turned-crime solver also has a new job. Going by the promo for 'XY,' Castle will start Season 8 as a private eye and apparently it will not take long for him to engage in the most important case of his career - locating his missing wife.

'Castle' Season 8 premieres on Sept. 21 at 10 p.m. EDT on ABC.
