'Castle' Season 8 Episode 20 Recap, Spoilers: Castle Investigates Murder of Famous Actor
The 20th episode of "Castle" season 8 saw Rick caught in a situation so pressing that it almost laid his life on the line.
Titled "Much Ado about Murder," the episode followed Rick and Kate as they decided to go behind the scenes to delve into the murder of a famous movie star-turned-theater actor, who was slain by an unknown killer while he was rehearsing his lines on stage.
As the couple pored over the case, they discovered that the actor, Zane Cannon, had just broken up with his fling named Naomi, and that Naomi got so mad at him that she smashed his car with a baseball bat. When Castle, Ryan and Esposito visited Naomi for an interrogation, she denied hurting Zane but accused him of cheating on her when they were still together.
When the team headed to the suite that Zane used to rent, they were surprised to see Castle's mom lying in his bed. However, she denied having any involvement in the murder, saying that she was just Zane's life coach.
Meanwhile, Esposito discovered that the day before Zane was killed, he picked up his step-brother Johnny Toro from prison. When they questioned Johnny, he swore he did not kill his brother but revealed that Zane was broke when he died and was looking for a get-rich-quick scheme.
In a footage, they saw Zane meeting up with a mystery man whom Esposito identified as Alejandro, a shot-caller for a gang. Alejandro revealed that Zane had previously met up with cartel leader El Oso, but their encounter did not go too well. The team found it a good lead, but the problem was that they had no idea how to find the suspect since he was also wanted by the FBI.
After a series of interrogations, mistaken culprits and dire events which involved Castle being kidnapped by the people of El Oso, it turned out that a lady named Erin was the one responsible for the crime. She said she was jealous of his career, and things got even more complicated for her when she learned that Zane would not keep his word to let her direct the Oso biopic.
"Castle" season 8 episode 20 aired on May 2 on ABC.
