'Castle' Season 7 Finale Spoilers: Show Creators Talk Season 8 & Beckett Getting Killed Off in the Last Episode [VIDEO]

Prior to ABC announcing the list of serials renewed for another season, 'Castle' show creators had no idea whether the crime drama television series would return for Season 8. Hence, Andrew Marlowe and Terri Edda Miller created the Season 7 finale in a manner that it would be an end of their stories of the characters, while leaving enough prospects for another season of the show, provided it was renewed.

According to Christian Today, the Season 2 finale of 'Castle,' which airs on Monday, May 11, may possibly have been the last episode of the series, but both Marlowe and Miller wanted that the fans should be happy irrespective of what happens to Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Kate Beckett (Stana Katic).

Before ABC announced the renewals, Marlowe told Us Weekly, "We're on pins and needles like the rest of the world," adding, "But we're very happy with the end of season 7."

He further told the publication that earlier, they were not aware of whether or not 'Castle' would be coming back and, hence, they structured "fun, engaging cliffhangers" that would help the fans to keep thinking about what will happen to Castle and Beckett in the coming season.

Explaining the view point of 'Castle' show creators, Marlowe said, "But this season, we knew there was a chance that the show might not return. And given that, we wanted to make sure that the fans had some sense of resolution and some sense of good feelings about the characters, so we're really satisfied with where we leave off if this is the last show."

Nevertheless, as the show has been renewed now, the show creators are considering possible themes for the upcoming season. One of the possible angles they said they might explore is further problems coming from Senator Bracken, the person to blame for Johanna Beckett's murder.

In the meantime, several 'Castle' fans are speculating that Beckett may be killed off in Season 7, because Stana Katic has yet to sign on to reprise her role for in Season 8 of the show. However, Marlowe and Miller have already dismissed that rumor.

While Marlowe said, "I think for us that's off the table. For us, we've been telling a love story for the last seven years," Miller added, "I think that would be a huge betrayal of our fans."

'Castle' Season 7 finale titled 'Hollander's Woods' will broadcast on Monday, May 11 at 10/9c on ABC.
