'Captain Marvel' News: Comic Series to be Helmed By 'Agent Carter' Writers

Some interesting news regarding the fate of the 'Captain Marvel' comic series has been revealed recently.

The series will regrettably not be continued by the classic writer Kelly Sue DeConnick, and instead the writers of the 'Agent Carter' TV series will helm the character.

Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas have done great work on ABC fleshing out a secondary character in the 'Captain America' movie into a lead female protagonist that has recently earned critical success. There are many similarities for what the two have done for Agent Carter and what DeConnick has done for Captain Marvel in the recent years.

"It's been really fun playing in a world where you can do anything," says Butters in an interview with Fast Company. "In comics, there is no budget."

"Fast Company has a cool look at the new Captain Marvel, which includes a chat with Butters and Fazekas about the future of the comic book. The restarted series will apparently include a cool new space-station headquarters-the better for Captain Marvel to set up shop as Earth's first line of defense against any potential threats from outer-space. Artist Kris Anka has also given the character shorter hair and added some totally essential Liefeld pouches onto her belt-sash. The new series will apparently try to occupy a middle ground between earthbound Avengers action and cosmic Guardians of the Galaxy adventure, which for all we know is also a description of the Captain Marvel movie coming three years from now," writes EW.

'Agent Carter' is currently only a television series, however this leads fans to speculate that the character could possibly coin a comic series for herself, which might also prompt a crossover with the two characters.
