'Captain Marvel' News: Bryce Dallas Howard Throws Her Bid in to Play Lead Role

With the release of Marvel's first female lead superhero film so far away, and the role of the titular Captain Marvel still available (at least to the knowledge of the public), a recent interview has now put another actress in contention for the part.

In an interview with Cinema Blend, Bryce Dallas Howard was asked if she had any interest in the part, which she enthusiastically replied yes.

"Oh my God, will you write that? Will you write that please? Yes, let's start a campaign now. That would be rad," she said. "Those movies are so fantastic, because talk about just these incredibly drawn characters! That's the joy of the comics, is that you fall in love with these characters and it's who they are that carries you from journey to journey to journey ... it's not just about set pieces. It's really about who these people are, and so, yes, I just would love to be in a Marvel film."

If Howard does land the part in a very unlikely event, she'll at least know what news outlet to thank.

The actress may have to battle some big names for the part, as 'Mad Max' actress, Charlize Theron was recently rumored to be attached to the role, along with Angelina Jolie directing.

Howard can be seen starring in 'Jurassic World' this weekend, but she has helmed the role of Gwen Stacy in 'Spider-Man 3.'

"Of course, fans of the comic book genre will be quick to note that playing Captain Marvel or another Marvel Cinematic Universe character wouldn't be the actress' first time playing a character from Marvel Comics. Back in 2006 she was hired by Sam Raimi to be in Spider-Man 3 - specifically starring as Gwen Stacy. Obviously that part would be quite different than a turn as Carol Danvers in Marvel Studios' planned 2018 blockbuster, though the part would likely require to once again dye her natural red hair blonde," writes Cinema Blend.
