'Captain America: Civil War' News: Martin Freeman Teases Role in Movie
There has been a lot of mystery surrounding 'Sherlock' actor Martin Freeman's role in the anticipated Marvel film 'Captain America: Civil War.'
While he's been rumored to be playing a number of characters, the actor has finally broke his silence to give a bit of insight on his role, although he's adamant about not revealing the name or identity of his character.
In an interview with Badtaste.it, Freeman states:
"He works for the American government. He works in conjunction with the superheroes, and certain agencies that help to tame the superheroes' power, I suppose. So you're not quite sure which side he's on. It looks a little bit like he's playing one game when actually he's playing another. It's the kind of character I like because it's ambiguous and because you don't know whether he's good or bad. I like that area that isn't black or white, I like the grays, because I think there's just more fun to be had in not playing one obvious line."
While this still doesn't reveal his character, speculators have linked him to the Everett Ross character in the comics. A character that works for the US Government and is sent to Wakanda.
Here's the synopsis for the film:
"Captain America: Civil War picks up where Avengers: Age of Ultron left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain."
'Civil War' is scheduled for theaters on May 6, 2016.
