‘Captain America: Civil War' News: Filming Starts in Atlanta, Cast and Crew to Visit Germany, Puerto Rico Next
Filming of the upcoming Avengers sequel, 'Captain America: Civil War,' has commenced in Atlanta and all the Avengers, except Thor and Hulk, are back in action for the next Marvel movie. Directors Joe and Anthony Russo, who were at the helm in 'Captain America: Winter Soldier,' are behind the camera this time too.
According to IB Times, the filming for 'Captain America: Civil War' started May 7, just few days after the release of 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' across the U.S. theaters. USA Today reports that after the cast and crew finish shooting in Atlanta, they will be filming in places like Puerto Rico, Iceland and Berlin, Germany. It seems that following the dire Battle of New York depicted in the first 'Avengers' movie, the Marvel superheros will perhaps target Atlanta as the next big American city, which will be destroyed to some extent by threats.
In fact, the tropical island of Puerto Rico may be shown as the potential double for Wakanda, which the land superhero Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) calls his home. The audiences have already got their first glimpse of the fictional locale in 'Avengers: Age of Ultron,' with the scenes based in Wakanda and shot in South Africa and Bangladesh. On the other hand, Iceland could potentially double another villainous hideout very much like the crew's next filming location - Germany.
According to the report, the setting in Berlin appears to be the main location where the audience will see Captain America (Chris Evans) meeting "Civil War" antagonist Baron Helmut Zemo (Daniel Brühl). This supervillain has been described as the son of a former Nazi and Hydra scientist who is unlikely to take the stars and stripes of the hero kindly.
Incidentally, Falcon (Anthony Mackie) accidentally revealed in January last that the cast of 'Captain America: Civil War' would be filming in Atlanta, Puerto Rico, and Berlin. In fact, the filming was scheduled to begin in April and continue for about five months.
The new cast of 'Captain America: Civil War' includes actors like Martin Freeman, Paul Rudd's Ant Man and Emily VanCamp as Agent 13, which will possibly make next Avengers storyline travel around the world.
The plot of the upcoming Avengers movie from the Marvel Cinematic Universe follows the collapse of Tony Stark/Iron's (Robert Downey Jr.) alliance with Steve Rogers (Captain America). As a result the rest of the Avengers will be compelled to choose sides, while a greater danger seems to be imminent.
'Captain America: Civil War' will release on May 6, 2016.
