'Captain America: Civil War' News: Feige Talks Black Panther Role In Upcoming Film
'Captain America: Civil War' is set to be huge for a variety of reasons, however one of the biggest aspects is definitely the first live action interpretation of the Black Panther character.
The Wakandan superhero plans to make his debut in this film before his own solo effort in the years following. Not much has been revealed on the character and even less has been said on what role he'll play in 'Civil War.'
In a recent interview with Birth Movies Death, Kevin Feige sheds some light on what we can hope to expect. He first goes on to answer why Black Panther was even introduced in the film in the first place:
"The reason we introduced him in Civil War is because we needed a third party. We needed fresh eyes who wasn't embedded with the Avengers and who has a very different point of view than either Tony or Steve. We said, 'We need somebody like Black Panther... why don't we just use Black Panther?' That's how it went in the development process."
While Black Panther hasn't yet been mentioned in the MCU, his country has in 'Age of Ultron,' and its implied that the events that took place there will tie-in with his involvement. Feige goes on to explain where the character is in the timeline of this movie:
"Today, pre-Civil War, post-Ultron I think [the Black Panther] and his father are saying, 'A bunch of vibranium just got out of here and wreaked a lot of havoc. Maybe we can't stay behind these borders anymore, maybe we have to stick our heads out and make at least an attempt to be a part of the rest of the world right now, while at the same time protecting our people.' That's sort of where we meet him in Civil War."
'Captain America Civil War' will be released on May 6, 2016.
