‘Captain America: Civil War’ Anthony Russo On The Defenders In ‘Avengers: Infinity War' [Trailer]

"It's complicated," said by director Anthony Russo in response to concept of seeing the Defenders with the Avengers in his and Joe Russo's upcoming Marvel Comics film "Avengers: Infinity War."

In his interview with the Spanish website Super (via Comic Book Movies), Anthony said that the Marvel films were controlled by a group led by Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, so they functioned as a unit. The "Captain America: Civil War" filmmaker added that other products, even if they were from Marvel, were controlled by others. He also pointed out that there was the possibility of a crossover, which was more complicated.

Prior to casting Tom Holland as Spider-Man, the iconic web slinger was prevented to be part of Marvel's Cinematic Universe in a smaller scale, according to Cinema Blend. This suggests that while Marvel's big and small screens are both under Marvel, it was not simple to each other's realm and present them to the audience.

Fans have seen some characters as references on the television series to the events in the films. A case in point is "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s" Agent Phil Coulson, who was first seen in the film prior to being a regular part of the said television series. Samuel L. Jackson also appeared as guest star in the series, reprising his role as Nick Fury. However, such reprisal of roles did not affect the storyline of the film.

Meanwhile, "Avengers: Infinity War" follows the Earth's Mightiest Heroes as they face the Mad Titan Thanos, who wants to own the Infinity Stones for his evil plans.

The Russos' "Avengers: Infinity War - Part I" is slated to hit theaters on May 4, 2018 while "Avengers: Infinity - Part II" is set to premiere in theaters on May 3, 2019.
