Surprise surprise! Everyone was shocked when Hollywood actress Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden from Good Charlotte tied the knot at their Beverly Hills Mansion last night. The two newlyweds were surrounded by close family and friends as it was reported that there were only 50 guests in attendance.

"We couldn't be happier to begin our new journey together surrounded by our closest family and friends," the couple said in a statement to People. Reportedly, some big named celebrities were in attendance like Reese Witherspoon, Drew Barrymore (who was also a bridesmaid), Gwyneth Paltrow and Nicole Richie with her husband, and Madden's twin brother Joel Madden.

Even though the public wasn't aware that the two were even engaged, their friends were apparently well informed. "All of Benji's friends are aware and happy for him," a friend of Benji's told People.

Meanwhile according to reports, Joel and Nicole's son Sparrow, age five, served as the ring bearer. The bridesmaids were Richie, Barrymore, Cameron's sister Chimene, and her assistant Jesse Lutz.

The wedding was a shock for many since Diaz in the past stated that she was strongly against marriages. "I think the big misconception in our society is that we're supposed to meet the one when we're 18 and we're supposed to get married to them and love them for the rest of our lives. Bulls**t," Diaz told UK Stylist magazine in 2010.

"Who would want to be with the same person for 80 years? .... I think people get freaked out about getting married and spending 20 or 30 years sleeping with the same person but if that's the case, don't do it. Have someone for five years and another person for another five years. Life is long and lucky and yes, love might last forever, but you don't always live with the person you love forever," she continued.

Diaz probably met someone she could love forever as she changed her mind and got married to Madden. Congratulations to the newlyweds!
