'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2' Re-Master Release Date: CoD Fans Call for Xbox One & PS4 Remastered Version
Ever since its release in 2009, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is arguably one of the best in the franchise. The positive reviews from both fans and critics alike created a new hype for the games upon its release.
On that note, fans haven't been impressed with the Call of Duty games since. With the poor ratings of re-masters for other games, it's interesting to see the Call of Duty community rally together to get Activision to make a re-master for Modern Warfare 2.
A campaign was started on Change.org, asking fans to sign the petition to get the HD remake ball rolling.
On the page it says, "I speak for every one when I say that Modern Warfare 2 was one of Activision's best games. The guns, maps, kill streaks were just incredible. At the moment, Modern Warfare 2 for the PS3 and Xbox 360 is just overrun by hackers. If they re-master the game a sort a couple of things out, it would make a lot people happy."
Apparently a lot of other fans feel the same way as the campaign has over 50,000 signatures in just five days. It needs 75,000 in order for the petition to go through.
According to Digital Spy, Modern Warfare 2 became the biggest entertainment launch in history, earning $310 million in revenue from first-day sales. "In January 2010, Activision announced that the game had made more than $1 billion since its launch."
Modern Warfare 2 follows the U.S. Army's Task Force 141 team, trying to pinpoint Russian enemy Vladimir Makarov's location. The Russian is believed to be behind several terrorist attacks on American soil. The team must find Makarov and avenge team member's Joseph Allen's death.
