The trailer of the much-awaited film 'By The Sea' starring Angelina Jolies and husband Brad Pitt has been released. Directed by Jolie, the movie is set in the 1970s France. The short video clip offers a glimpse of the crumbling marriage of Vanessa (Jolie) and Ronald (Pitt).

IB Times reports that the trailer opens with Vanessa and Roland checking into a hotel room. As the clip moves forward, Roland is seen spending his time writing, while Vanessa is shown sobbing and taking her lonely walks by the sea. The trailer is without happy moments, and it soon becomes clear that 'By The Sea' is about a couple who are drifting apart.

In one scene, viewers can see Roland asking Vanessa, "Do you hate me?" and she responds, "You know my reason." Roland gets exicted and shouts, "Hurt me." Afterward, Vanessa is seen slapping and kicking Roland, while he is sleeping in the bed. The trailer concludes with Vanessa lying on the floor of their room, as Roland leaves her behind.

The trailer also presents the track, "It is a perfect way to end the perfect day," and captures the classic French architecture and décor. In the majority of the scenes, viewers see Jolie wearing a unkempt look, while Pitt is shown smoking and drinking.

'By The Sea' tells the story of the alienated couple Vanessa and Roland, who take a trip to a seaside town and find themselves becoming close to the local inhabitants. Jolie portrays the character of a former dancer, while Pitt plays the role of an American writer.

Talking about 'By The Sea,' Jolie, who also wrote the film, told People, "It focuses on three couples, all at different stages in their lives. And at its center are the questions of what happened to Roland and Vanessa and why they are in the place they are now."

At the same time, the Academy Award winning actress confessed that it was difficult to direct her husband in the "fight scenes." Most part of the film has been shot in Malta.

Aside from Jolie and Pitt, 'By The Sea' also stars Mélanie Laurent as Lea, Melvil Poupaud as François, Niels Arestrup as Michel, and Richard Bohringer as Patrice. The movie will hit theaters on Nov. 13.
