'Burnout' Game News: A New Driving Game In The Development
In the realm of racing games, Three Fields Entertainment and Criterion Games have revealed that a new driving game is in the works, a follow-up to the hit video game "Burnout."
Criterion Games alum Alex Ward and Fiona Sperry unveiled the news on the racing video game "Burnout." On July 27, Ward wrote on his official Twitter account that work had begun on a driving game. While he did not mention the specific title they were working on, it is assumed that that title is Criterion Games' "Burnout."
In May, Ward also unveiled that Three Fields Entertainment would start developing "Burnout" following the completion of their twisted take of "Crash Junctions," "Dangerous Golf," as per IGN. Also released in May, "Dangerous Golf" is a miniature golf game, which incorporates the elements of "Black," "NBA Jam," and "Burnout."
In a statement, as cited by Game Spot, The Fields Entertainment said that "Dangerous Golf" was as serious a golf game as "Burnout" had been a serious simulation to driving games. The studio added that they had wanted to mix the attitude of "Burnout" with the destruction of "Black," setting the gold ball in fire, just like in "NBA Jam."
Three Fields Entertainment also teased "Burnout" on its official Twitter account. In Oct. 2015, the studio wrote "Two things. Our first game is a multiplayer sports game. Coming Spring 2016. Then we make a driving game. RT and #ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster." As for what kind of game it was, it was called a "spiritual successor," followed by speed, traffic, and crashing, as per IGN.
"Burnout" was released on Nov. 2001 in North America and Europe.
