Buffalo Bills NFL 2015 News: NFL Franchise Signs New Guard Richie Incognito

The Buffalo Bills announced on Monday that the team has signed free-agent guard Richie Incognito, but did not disclose the terms and conditions of the deal. However, ESPN reports that Incognito entered into a $2.2-million, two-year deal with the team.

According to the report, Incognito is the 81st overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft. He has, however, not played since the 2013 season after he was found involved in a high-profile bullying scandal. In fact, there were reports that teams were cautious about signing Incognito owing to his alleged misbehavior, which was proven after his involvement in controversies that occurred when he was still in college. Nevertheless, Bills owner Terry Pegula is certain that the experienced guard help to introduce several positives to the NFL team.

Pegula has said that he and Bills new coach Rex Ryan had a personal meeting with Incognito before signing him. On the basis of their discussion, Bills owner came to the conclusion that Incognito was prepared to move on and renew his career in the NFL.

A statement released by Pegula reads, "Obviously, we all discussed Richie's past experience in the NCAA and NFL." It went on to say, "We are convinced that Richie is prepared to move forward and has and will continue to take the necessary steps to improve himself as a person and a teammate."

It is worth mentioning here that Incognito played three games with the Bills during the 2009 NFL season, but was suspended in Miami Dolphins' final eight games in 2013 after allegedly bullying his teammate Jonathan Martin.

This led NFL to conduct an investigation, which was highly publicized, and concluded that Incognito, together with offensive linemen John Jerry and Mike Pouncey, were guilty of bullying Martin.

Last summer, Incognito was cleared to sign a deal with any team. He was also allowed to recommence all football-related activities. Unfortunately for the 31-year-old guard, he still failed to find a new team regardless of sitting down with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in August as well as Denver Broncos in November.

Now, it is expected that Incognito, who was once dubbed as the "dirtiest" player in the league, will play a key role under Ryan. Last season, the Bills used Erik Pears and Kraig Urbik as their starters, but without any success.
