Bruce Lee Biopic News: Martial Arts Legend’s Family Producing Film to Narrate & Show His Philosophies [VIDEO]

Legendary martial arts master Bruce Lee's daughter Shannon Lee announced on Friday that she will produce a biopic on her father together with producers Lawrence Grey, Janet Yang, and Ben Everard, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Shannon spoke to Deadline about her illustrious father and her ambitious project. She told the website that while featured in several films, no one has made a feature film discussing his complete life history. In the upcoming biopic of Bruce Lee, Shanon hopes to focus on the philosophies, extensive writings as well as martial art skills of her father.

Shanon told Deadline, "There have been projects out there involving my father," adding, "But they've lacked a complete understanding of his philosophies and artistry. They haven't captured the essence of his beliefs in martial arts or storytelling. The only way to get audiences to understand the depth and uniqueness of my father is to generate our own material."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Shannon was just 4-years-old when Bruce Lee died. The website hints that Shannon probably decided to produce a biopic on Bruce Lee because the other Bruce Lee movies are in the works do not have any input or consent from his family.

Shanon has already launched Bruce Lee Entertainment and now she plans to start work on many projects, counting a television series with 'Fast & Furious' director Justin Lin. The proposed television series will be based on an original thought by Bruce.

Deadline reports that Bruce Lee Entertainment also has plans to produce a reality based show. 'John Wick' actor Keanu Reeves will launch the show in China. The show will be produced by Stephen Hamel of Company Films.

However, Shannon has yet to announce the release date of the Bruce Lee biopic.

Meanwhile, as the news of the biopic became public, fans of Lee have flocked to Twitter to share their excitement over the upcoming film.
