Britney Spears Latest News: 'Pretty Girls' Singer to Appear in ‘Jane The Virgin’ Season 2

Britney Spears, the "Pretty Girls," has decided to put down the microphone and take another shot at acting. In the past, the singer has appeared in guest roles on several shows like 'Sabrina the Teenage Witch' and 'How I Met Your Mother,' but her next acting assignment will perhaps be her biggest so far.

Citing a report in TV Line, IB Times states that Spears has consented to appear in one episode of 'Jane the Virgin' Season 2. In a statement, show executive producer Jennie Synder Urman said that the pop star readily accepted an invitation to appear in an episode, since she seems to be a big fan of the CW series.

Urman further revealed that Spears will portray the character of Rogelio's (Jaime Camil) enemy. However, the executive producer refused to offer too many details about why the two don't see eye-to-eye. The statement issued by Urman disclosed that fans will get to hear plenty of the perspective of Spear's character on the feud during the episode. According to Urman, it is "quite different" compared to that of Rogelio's.

"We are so thrilled that Rogelio's 'nemesis' - Britney Spears - has agreed to appear on 'Jane the Virgin' in episode 205," Urman stated, adding, "Personally, after hearing about their long standing feud (from Rogelio's point of view), we are eager to hear Ms. Spears' side of the story, which we assume is quite different. #TeamBritney."

Meanwhile, 33-year-old Spears also confirmed the exciting news on Twitter on Tuesday. The singer surprised fans by tweeting that she would see them "at the Marbello Hotel," the location which plays a vital role in the CW show. In her message, Spears called the opportunity to star on the show a "#DreamComeTrue," saying that the series is among her favorites.

Originally, 'Jane the Virgin' Season 2 was scheduled to premiere Monday, Oct. 19, at 9 p.m. EDT on the CW. However, Variety reports that the network has since decided to postpone the show's premiere date by a week. According to the publication, the decision was an attempt by the CW to clear the broadcast for a major NFL match between the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles.

'Jane the Virgin' Season 2 will return to TV Monday, on Oct. 12, at 9:00 p.m. EDT on the CW.
