After eight months together, Britney Spears and Charlie Ebersol have broken up, as confirmed by a source close to Ebersol.

The pair began dating in October, and most recently appeared together in public last month at the Billboard Music Awards.

At the awards show, Spears performed her newest single, "Pretty Girls" with Iggy Azalea.

Even though the 33-year-old Spears and 32-year-old Ebersol were somewhat low key about their relationship, they documented it using social media.

They often posted photographs together, often featuring Spears' sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James.

Based on these photographs, it was clear that the couple was spending birthdays and holidays together.

Since the break up, Spears has deleted the photos on her Instagram page which featured Ebersol.

They also posed together, however, for the pop star's PEOPLE cover story in March. Spears does not seem to be too upset about the break up.

On Sunday, she posted a picture on her Instagram page, featuring an unidentified man, which was taken in her home state, Louisiana.

She captioned the photograph, "So nice to be home! Nothing like Louisiana boys!"

In her cover interview, Spears discussed what had attracted her to Ebersol. "There was something about him that made me feel really peaceful and at ease ... And he was really hot, too. Adorably hot,"

Spears told the magazine, of Ebersol who is the son of Saturday Night Live co-creator Dick Ebersol and actress Susan Saint James.

Hopefully, the couple had an amicable breakup, and this will not interfere with any of the pop star's future hits!
