Britney Spears and her family are apparently happy with Spears' new romance with her writer and producer boyfriend, Charlie Ebersol, PEOPLE reported.

Ebersol, 31, is the son of Dick Ebersol, the co-creator of 'Saturday Night Live', and Susan Saint James, star of the '80s sitcom 'Kate & Allie'. He and Spears, 32, met through a mutual friend, and Spears first referred to him as her "special someone" during her Britney Day event on Nov. 5, which was held in Las Vegas.

A source close to the Spears family told PEOPLE that the singer was smitten with Ebersol, as was her family. Ebersol had already met Spears' sons, nine-year-old Preston and eight-year-old Jayden.

"He does well financially and is very private," the source said, "They don't have to worry about whether or not he is using Britney."

Ebersol started his own production company when he was 27 years old, and the source said that the Spears family was happy as Ebersol has "drive, [is] smart and ambitious."

The source also claimed that Spears found her new beau cute and funny and has been in the best mood since meeting him.

Sources, however, claimed that before the two could even begin dating, Ebersol had to sign a confidentiality agreement, according to TMZ.

The source claimed that after meeting through a mutual friend, the pair agreed to go out for lunch. Ebersol was then asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement before even meeting the singer face to face.

Ebersol reportedly knew that an NDA was standard protocol for those dating Spears or becoming involved with her. Breaking the contract will result in severe penalties, though there was no word on what the penalties were.

The source also claimed that Spears' new boyfriend was taking his NDA seriously and is keeping mum on all aspects of their relationship, despite the fact that both are saying their involvement is not serious yet.
