Brazilian Court Ordered A 48 Hours of Blockage for WhatsApp: Rival Telegram Gains 1.5 Million Users In Just One Day

WhatsApp received an order last December 17 from a Brazilian court ordering the blockage of access for services, with 48 hours' duration as ordered. Meanwhile, Tech Times reported that the blockage of WhatsApp created an advantage to rival messaging app Telegram, as it boosted one million subscribers in a day.

In addition to the report, Brazilian court pushed the allegation to WhatsApp that resulted to a 48 withdrawal of services as it is believed that the company is making an illegal business that hinders the growth of other regulated telecommunication companies in the country.

The Brazilian court is confident that the shutting down of WhatsUp is the beginning of equal distribution for net neutrality in the country as they will be starting to implement the Internet Bill Rights. Given the Bill, the country has now the power to monitor, withhold and allow companies to do legal businesses.

On the other hand, Congress of Brazil would want to strengthen the Bill by instructing the people to submit a list of their internet activities for monitoring of social media's sake. This way as it is believed will grant the government the consent to monitor legal and illegal internet affairs.

With the conflict of interest going on between WhatsApp and the Brazilian court, the continuous expansion of Telegram subscriber is growing as majority sign up for contract to its services. On a tweet, Telegram Messenger confirmed that an ongoing growth of 1.500.00 of increase in the number of subscribers and still counting is amazingly happening right now.
