Boxing News: Pacquiao vs. Mayweather Match Might Still Happen?
Floyd Mayweather is on a vacation in Dubai right now, which gives people hope that there might be another Pacquiao-Mayweather fight.
As we all know, Mayweather recently retired from boxing with a record of 49-0 after his recent victory again Andre Berto. Manny Pacquiao on the other hand, will have his farewell fight early 2016. Here are just a couple of events that raised speculations about a possible Mayweather-Pacquiao II:
Mayweather's Dubai trip. What's wrong with "Money" going to Dubai? What's wrong if the first ever billionaire boxer wanted to spend his time and riches to see what the land has to offer for tourists? Well, if you don't know it yet, Pacquiao was in Dubai last November. He was there for a basketball event but who knows? Maybe he was also speaking with the rich boxing promoters from Dubai that we've heard of in the past; perhaps maybe the same people Mayweather might be talking to right now. Pacquio said that he was surprised to find out that a lot of people knew him over there and also expressed his desire to fight in Dubai. He was asked by Emirates247 what he thinks of fighting Amir Khan in Dubai and the Filipino boxing superstar said:
"I don't know. I'm hoping to have a rematch with him (Mayweather). It depends on negotiations. We are working on that next fight."
Pacquiao delayed his announcement on who'll he face in his next fight. The Filipino was supposed to show up in cable TV to announce who will be the last opponent of his career but he cancelled on it because he has not decided yet. Is it because talks for a Mayweather rematch are still alive?
The venue would also be perfect because it would be much more accessible for other people outside the US. Also, because of the lawsuits that were filed after their first fight and a lot of disappointed fans, it's not going to be a good business decision to have the venue in the United States.
Pacquiao's last fight will be on April 9, 2016.
