'Bourne 5' Release Date, Rumors: Damon Reprises His Role As A Highly-skilled Agent With Troublesome Memory

The fifth movie of the "Bourne" series will again feature Matt Damon. According to BGR, we will find Jason Bourne in a "dark and tortured" scenery.

It seems that the story will take place about twelve years after the events of "The Bourne Ultimatum" happened. Jason Bourne, played by Damon will still be in search of his identity.

Damon said that the world where Bourne now lives in is something different compared to the real one.

"There's been the financial collapse, the great recession, all these issues of cyberwarfare and civil liberties," the star and producer told Entertainment Weekly.

The movie will also star Ex Machina breakout Alicia Vikander, who will play a cyberspecialist; Tommy Lee Jones, who will play a CIA agent and Vincent Cassel (played Thomas Leroy in Black Swan). Julia Stiles is also making a comeback in the film franchise.

"We find him in a dark and tortured place," Damon added. The 45-year-old actor decided to reprise his role as a highly-skilled agent with troublesome memory issues because of a returning director named, Paul Greengrass.

The previous installment, "Bourne Legacy" focused on a Black Ops agent named Aaron Cross, played by Jeremy Renner. The film also starred Rachel Weisz and Edward Norton. Jason Bourne was mentioned in the film a couple of times but never made an appearance (though a photo of him was shown in the film). It was said that Damon opted out of a fourth Bourne movie and the writers were forced to write a different story without changing its key events.

The fifth "Bourne" movie will hit theatres July 29, 2016.
