Following the series of events that took place in the first half of "Bones" season 11, Hodgins will have to struggle with an emotional blow that will greatly affect his relationship with his wife Angela.

In the first half of the season, a bomb blast took its toll on Hodgins, making him suffer from a spinal injury and leaving him paralyzed. As the show returns on April 14, he will try to return to work with a sprightly attitude, but everything will change as he deals with Cam. An article on TV Line suggests that a call will spark another emotional letdown for the entomologist.

Succeeding episodes of the midseason will also show how Hodgins' growing bitterness over his circumstance will make him push everyone away, including his wife.

"There are different stages of adapting to a tragedy like this, and right now we're in the stage of Hodgins giving up a little bit," shared actress Conlin, who plays Angela in the series. She also disclosed that while Angela will try to fight for his man, she will eventually be drawn to her photography mentor Sebastian Kohl.  

In the early episodes of the series, Cam suggested that Sebastian liked Angela but Angela was not interested in him at all. This time around, Angela will turn to him for comfort and will look at him in a different light.

While Angela's dealing with Sebastian may cause a strain in her relationship with Hodgins, it can also make their marriage stronger than ever if they get through it.  However, that will only happen if Hodgins learns to accept his current situation and returns to his old self despite his current disability.

"Bones" executive producer Michael Peterson revealed that the episode 11 of season 11 will pick up after the explosive finale of the first half. It airs on April 14, 8:00 P.M. on Fox.
