'Blade Runner 2' Movie In the Works; Set for 2018 Release Date
Ridley Scott's classic sci-fi noir classic "Blade Runner" is back with its much-anticipated sequel after nearly 35 years.
A report on Screen Rant confirmed that Harrison Ford will be reprising his role as Richard Deckard and Ryan Gosling will play the lead.
Aside from Deckard and Gosling, former WWE superstar Dave "Batista" Bautista also confirmed through his official Twitter account that he has been cast in the upcoming movie.
"Hey guys, Dave Bautista here. As speculated, I'm proud, privileged and honored to announce that I'm joining the cast of the new 'Blade Runner.' 'Blade Runner 2' directed by the amazing Denis Villeneuve. I'm very excited for this project and very grateful to bring this news to you myself. I couldn't be more proud, it's a dream come true. You've heard it here first and it's official. 'Blade Runner 2!' Peace,'" he said.
Batista's most recent projects include "Spectre" and "Guardians of the Galaxy," where he will again play the role of Drax the Destroyer in the next installment.
Alcon Films also confirmed that "House of Card" star Robin Wright is joining the cast alongside Batista.
Currently, Hampton Fancher is drafting the script for the sequel while Michael Green and Denis Villeneuve are all-set to direct the film.
Widely acclaimed for its use of strong characterization, spectacular settings and astounding violence, "Blade Runner" is expected to have a sequel that is as innovative and striking as it is.
"Blade Runner 2" is set to be released in 2018. Its first installation hit the big screen in 1982.
