BlackBerry Venice Release News: New Handset to Feature QWERTY-Type Keyboard, Runs on Android OS

Although the Canadian smartphone manufacturer BlackBerry showcased its new slider phone, BlackBerry Venice, at the Mobile World Congress earlier this year, it did not reveal too many details about the handset resulting in numerous online rumors. Now, more details regarding the company's latest slider phone are coming out.

Citing latest leaked details, Christian Today reports that the new BlackBerry phone will reportedly come with an onscreen touch keyboard, which would be similar to that of the devices currently available on the market today. However, there is something else about Venice that distinguishes it from other devices.

If there is any truth in the latest reports, the BlackBerry Venice will apparently sport an additional physical QWERTY-type keyboard that will also be functional. According to Crackberry, this physical keyboard will be positioned just below the touch keyboard. As the BlackBerry Venice is a slider phone, users will reportedly also be able to slide that physical keyboard in and out if they choose to do so.

In addition to the unique structure of the BlackBerry Venice, the device also has a number of design elements that are likely to be familiar to most smartphone users.

Ubergizmo reports that the new phone will supposedly feature a dual-edge curved display, which is somewhat similar to what people will find on the Galaxy S6 Edge. In fact, the similarity is apparently not an accident, as Samsung is known to be the main supplier for this kind of phone display.

Another interesting aspect about the BlackBerry Venice is that the device will reportedly come without the typical BlackBerry operating system (OS), but feature the Android OS like many other smartphones.

At present, this is all the information that is available related to the specs and features of the BlackBerry Venice. However, it is likely that more details will be available soon, as the new slider phone expected to be released by November this year.
