Blackberry Leap Features, Release Date News: New Device Interface Drops Classic QWERTY Keyboard
The Mobile World Congress 2015 held in Barcelona, Spain has highlighted Blackberry's new flagship phone called Blackberry Leap which has a totally different physical attribute compared to its predecessors but still remains sleek and professional.
The new Blackberry phone has now been modeled to compete with other smartphones during the MWC expo with its brand new interface instead of having the usual QWERTY Keyboard.
The new Blackberry leap has received praises for having cross-platform feature which accommodates use of software from the iOS and Android.
"I think there's a much bigger opportunity to enable our software on other platforms," said John Che, Blackberry CEO.
According to Blackberry's website, a priority has been done to counter "potentially costly cyberattacks" with its reliable security feature. This is possible due to Blackberry's partnership with Samsung Knox, a security platform. It also boasts an impressive 2800 mAH battery which equals considerably 25 hours of heavy use.
Moreover, Blackberry has tied up with health professionals with its noteworthy feature on immediate health diagnosis under its telemedicine app. "[This] can help doctors diagnose remotely avoiding long, costly travel for both parties," according to Dr. Pavan Kuman of Hirandani Hospital in Mumbai, who was present during the expo.
Worklife has also partnered with Blackberry to "help various companies track their employees personal and work usage of their Smartphones", according to their website. This would increase work productivity awareness with its users.
Europe is set to have a release date in April while Blackberry Leap is still undergoing FCC approval in the US. It is expected that it should fully be out on the market by May, 2015.
Blackberry President for Device and Emerging Solution, Ron Louks, had also unveiled another Blackberry phone which is currently unnamed but is notably a slim slider phone. No other information regarding this device has been announced during the expo in Barcelona, Spain.
