BlackBerry DTEK50 News: Manufacturer Ditches Physical Keyboard; Unsurpassed Security Featured
After a long period of diminishing sales, it's been bad news after another as Blackberry (formerly Research in Motion) has seen its stocks plummet to red levels, and other smartphones filled the vacuum. However, the company is trying to reclaim its luster with the new DTEK50 smartphone.
Touted to be the world's most secure phone with its DTEK app, Blackberry is also keeping up with the times by finally ditching the physical keyboard.
A review by Trusted Reviews reports that there are several goodies in the new Blackberry DTEK50 which makes it more than just a security blanket. In fact, the phone tweaked the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow which reportedly makes its better compared to your standard Android.
For example, the review cited the Blackberry Hub, which arranges all the messaging and social media in one neat place. And this trend of organizing your apps continue all throughout the other options, such as the Productivity tab and the Device Search engine.
Meanwhile, BBC reports that Blackberry has made a handy phone in the DTEK50, but that the company also took a risk by staying on the mid-level category in terms of price, considered a purgatory in terms of demand.
One selling point, however, is the security aspect with Blackberry DTEK50's unique chip that can prevent hacking and tampering.
According to specs rundowns, the Blackberry DTEK50 has a 5.2-inch 1080p display and is running a Snapdragon 617 processor mated to the Android 6.0.1 OS. It also boasts 3 GB RAM, although the 16 GB storage leaves much to be desired. Fortunately, it's expandable via the microSD slot.
