Bing Search AMP Latest News: Updated App Opens Website Almost Immediately

Outside of the US, Microsoft's Bing is not exactly well-known unlike in the US. But the search engine is aiming to change all that by launching the Bing Search AMP, or accelerated mobile pages, for the Android and iOS.

The Bing Search AMP acts much like the way it sound. When you open the website under this app, it will open almost immediately.

How does the AMP work? It's quite technical but basically, the code prioritizes speed in the architecture by allowing rich-content websites that are tailor-fitted for mobile.

"In case there are AMP pages associated with the article, we always give preference to downloading the available AMP page from the servers that are closer to the end user, preferably via an AMP cache for a faster experience," Bing said.

But non-AMP pages will also be loaded, although not as fast. Basically the Bing Search AMP adopts other performance optimization techniques to jack up those websites as well. Microsoft assured that those relying on SEO won't have any problem because the new program "does not impact our ranking algorithms in any way."

According to this ranking, Google dominates organic searches with two-thirds of the total in the US market. Bing, meanwhile, is about one-third of the searches, according to comScore.

Marcelo De Barros, OIC of the AMP integration at Bing, said in a report from UberGizmo that they began experiments with Bing Search AMP in May this year. In their tests, they found out that the AMP websites load about 80% faster compared to regular sights.
