Bill Cosby Rape Allegations Latest News: Tamara Green Files Defamation Lawsuit Against Bill Cosby, Says 'I Want My Name Restored'

Tamara Green, who is one among many women who claim they were drugged and sexually assaulted by Bill Cosby, filed a defamation lawsuit on Wednesday after Cosby and his lawyer publicly branded her a liar.

Green first spoke out against Cosby in 2005, accusing him of raping her back in the 1970s. She claimed that she was feeling unwell at a time when Cosby invited her out for lunch and offered her a supposed cold medicine pill. However, she claims that she ended up drugged and dizzy and Cosby took her home where he proceeded to penetrate her.

According to her lawsuit, which was filed in a federal court in Springfield, Cosby's lawyer and publicist went about tarnishing her reputation in an effort to ridicule her and hold her in contempt after she went public with her story.

Green's lawsuit also claimed that Cosby's lawyer at the time, Walter M. Phillips Jr., and publicist David Brokaw, dismissed her claims as "absolutely false" and "a 10-year-old discredited accusation that proved to be nothing at the time, and is still nothing."

Phillips Jr. and Brokaw were approached, but declined to comment on the matter, simply saying they were now no longer representing Cosby.

Martin Singer, Cosby's lawyer, responded to the matter in a statement to The New York Daily News. He said he and his team were planning to fight against the claims and are confident that they will prevail over Green and her team.

Green's lawyer, Joseph Cammarata, talked about the lawsuit during a press conference held in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday and said it was important to prove that Green wasn't lying and is an opportunity for the truth to finally come out, according to Associated Press.

He said that the statute of limitations has run out on the case, but their camp is still using Green's story as part of the case and claimed they had another client who will take part in the lawsuit.

"I want the truth to be known," Green said, "I want it to be ended finally. And I want my name restored."
