Bill Cosby Rape Allegations Latest News: Chris Rock Addresses Sex Assault Allegations and American Race Relations - 'We Kind of Lost Cosby'
Comedian Chris Rock recently broke his silence on multiple topics including the rape allegation controversy that currently surrounds comic legend Bill Cosby when he promoted his latest film 'Top Five'.
"I grew up on Cosby. I love Cosby, and I just hope it's not true," said Rock to New York Magazine in an interview.
"It's a weird year for comedy. We lost Robin [Williams], we lost Joan [Rivers], and we kind of lost Cosby."
49-year-old comedian/actor further discussed the passing of the former 'Fashion Police' and 'Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best?' star in the very candid interview.
"Great person, underrated comedian. Who the hell's funnier than Joan Rivers?," said Rock.
"The compliment you give of a comedian is: Who wants to follow them onstage? Nobody wanted to follow Joan Rivers, ever. Even in her '80s, nobody wanted to follow her."
The ex-'Saturday Night Live' and 'In Living Color' star also expressed is views regarding race relations in America. He talked about how the nation remains divided on the issue concerning Police Officer Darren Wilson. For those that don't know, Wilson was acquitted after he shot and killed Michael Brown on August 9, 2014 in Ferguson, Missouri.
"When we talk about race relations in America or racial progress, it's all nonsense. There are no race relations. White people were crazy. Now they're not as crazy. To say that black people have made progress would be to say they deserve what happened to them before," said Rock.
"So, to say [President Barack] Obama is progress is saying that he's the first black person that is qualified to be president," he says, "That's not black progress. That's white progress. There's been black people qualified to be president for hundreds of years."
Rock also revealed that he is optimistic about the future of the nation regarding the issue of race and how it affect his two children this very day.
"The question is, you know, my kids are smart, educated, beautiful, polite children. There have been smart, educated, beautiful, polite black children for hundreds of years," said Rock.
"The advantage that my children have is that my children are encountering the nicest white people that America has ever produced. Let's hope America keeps producing nicer white people."
Rock's upcoming movie 'Top Five' is set to arrive in movie theaters this Friday on December 5, 2014.
